There's now speculation that the testing procedure discrepancy that caused United to pull its 777s out of service yesterday might apply to other airlines' 777s as well. If so, that would mean major disruptions in long-haul service, including international flights, even as United gets its 777 fleet back on line, a process that is expected to be completed on Thursday.
Here's the final update of the day from United on the sidelining of its 52 long-haul Boeing 777 aircraft for inspections. As of 5.30 p.m. Central time, United said:
