Standup Seats
Lots of reaction to my column in the Times this week about the introduction of so-called stand-up seats being marketed by the Italian airline seat and cabin-fixture maker Aviointeriors.
Just in case you want to see what they look like all in a row. Above.
Proof of my historically proven axiom that all truly bad ideas eventually have their day.

Hey, why don't we just hang onto the wings or stowaway in the wheel wells or just attach ourselves to the tails?
Guess what: if this idea ever comes to fruition 99.99999 percent of paying customers will be bye bye.
I'd rather crawl, run or swim.
Getting in an out of the row will require the evacuation of the row. Embarkation will be slower. The window "seat" (stand?) needing to visit the rest room will be a greater inconvenience to the middle and aisle.
I'm not sure someone who is pregnant would even fit, much less someone with a pot belly.
